We engrave on the wooden piece under the cover or on the box as well as on the compass itself. The box engraving is decorated with abalone or mother of pearl shell inlay.

The compass and box arrived quickly and was beautiful. Better than I had hoped. The wood inserts that were engraved on the back and inside were a beautiful touch. So excited to give this gift!
